Privacy Policy

Tacos Near You is a static website with no user accounts and no advertising trackers. When you tap “Use my location”, your browser gives this page your coordinates, they are used on your device to work out distances, and they are never sent to us or saved anywhere. We do not set tracking cookies, we do not sell data, and we hold no personal information about you.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no sign-up, no login, no contact form that stores your details, and no first-party analytics or advertising code on the site as published.

Location

The finder uses your browser’s built-in geolocation. It asks your permission first. If you allow it, the page reads your latitude and longitude, downloads a list of venue coordinates, and calculates which are nearest, all inside your browser. Your location is not transmitted to our servers (the site has none of its own that receive it) and is not stored between visits. Decline the permission and the rest of the site works normally; browse by city instead.

Cookies and local storage

The site sets no cookies. It may keep small, non-identifying preferences (such as a chosen filter) in your browser’s local storage; that data stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Third parties

• OpenStreetMap. Venue listings are built from OpenStreetMap data. Visiting this site does not contact OpenStreetMap.
• Google Maps. “Directions” links open Google Maps in a new tab. Once you follow one, Google’s privacy policy applies. We may also, in future, show venue ratings, hours or photos sourced from the Google Places API; those are fetched by us when the site is built, not by your browser, and this policy will be updated to say so.

Analytics

If privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics are added later to understand which pages are useful, this page will be updated before that happens, and it will not identify individual visitors.

Children

The site is a general-audience restaurant directory and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct or delete on our side. Requests about data held by third parties (Google, OpenStreetMap) should go to them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page.
