Taco trucks are the hardest venues to map because they move and rarely have a website. Our directory lists the ones that are on OpenStreetMap; for the rest, check the truck's own Instagram or Facebook for that day's spot, ask at a nearby taqueria, or look for a lunchtime cluster of parked cars near job sites and auto shops.

Are taco trucks safe to eat at?

Yes, in general. Trucks are inspected by the same county health departments as restaurants and post a grade. A busy truck with high turnover, a visible handwash station and a clean prep area is a good sign. High volume usually means fresher food, not less safe.

Why are taco truck tacos often better?

A truck runs a short menu on a hot flat-top with fast turnover, so the meat comes straight off the heat and the tortillas are warmed to order. Low overhead also lets a good truck spend more on the meat. It is not a rule, but the format favours the taco.
